This image of the horseshoe on the fence post was captured along the "Gun Barrel Highway" in south central Colorado.  Dan was "wandering" thru the countryside when he saw some Cowboys working cattle and pulled over to see if he could get some images of them during the early morning.  Dan crossed over the fence to get closer to the cattle operation but wasn't able to get what he thought was a good photograph.  Walking back to his Suburban, he prepared to cross back over the fence when he saw the old horseshoe on the corner post with the mountains in the background.  Dan spent the next two hours getting this image with the right light, depth of field, and proper attention to the aging of the post and horseshoe. He wound up walking away from what he thought was a bust in photographing the Cowboys with an image that seemed to tell quite a story.
